Citizenship for children of Australian citizens born in Ireland or elsewhere overseas
Children born of Australian citizens outside Australia, including in the Republic of Ireland or the United Kingdom, must acquire Australian citizenship before applying for a passport. This process is not a function of the Passports Office.
